Via-E

May 2010

I would like to nominate Genevieve to be the next via E girl. This is my 7 year old daughter. Over a year ago I told Genevieve about the Locks of Love. I explained to her that if we grow her hair out we could donate it to a child in need that has lost their hair to cancer. At first she was reluctant. After showing her the Locks of Love website and explaining to her she decided she wanted to do it. She had just turned 6. So for the next year we did not cut her hair and just grew it out. Genevieve was then so excited thinking about cutting her hair and helping other children with cancer. She would always ask me if she could cut it…and I would tell her we had to wait to get a good 10 inches of length as that is the required length they need. In the mean time a neighborhood boy had gotten diagnosed with cancer. He had to go through chemo and radiation. He lost his hair. I also had a friend that had breast cancer and lost her hair. I think it really touched home with her knowing people that went through hair loss. March 10 of this year came…and we went down to the local hair salon that cuts hair for the Locks of Love. They cut 11 inches of beautiful blonde hair. Now she has shoulder length hair and is so proud of what she did. WE ARE SO PROUD OF HER!!!!!! It would mean a lot if you would consider her for the next Via E.

Signed, Genevieve’s Mom

Yes, we agree! Genevieve we are so touched by your story and sacrifice for others in need. You show that you do not have to know the person in order to care enough to give of yourself. You can change the world one good act at a time because each act encourages others to do the same. Soon the circle of compassion grows and the world is a kinder place than it was before. Way to go, Genevieve. Keep up the good work!
